"Mindfulness-Based Treatment Approaches: Clinician's Guide to Evidence Base and Applications (Practical Resources for the Mental Health Professional)" Eastern spiritual traditions have long maintained that mindfulness meditation can improve well-being. More recently, mindfulness-based treatment approaches have been successfully utilized to treat anxiety, depressive relapse, eating disorders, psychosis, and borderline personality disorder. This book discusses the conceptual foundation, implementation, and evidence base for the four best-researched mindfulness treatments: mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). All chapters were written by researchers with extensive clinical experience. Each chapter includes the conceptual rationale for using a mindfulness-based treatment and a review of the relevant evidence base. A detailed case study illustrates how the intervention is implemented in "real life," exploring the clinical and practical issues that may arise and how they can be managed. This book will be of use to clinicians and researchers interested in understanding and implementing mindfulness based treatments. Textbook 2: "Mindfulness in Plain English, Updated and Expanded Edition" With his distinctive clarity and wit, "Bhante G" takes us step by step through the myths, realities, and benefits of meditation and the practice of mindfulness. We already have the foundation we need to live a more productive and peaceful life — Bhante simply points to each tool of meditation, tells us what it does, and how to make it work. This expanded edition includes the complete text of its best selling predecessor, as well as a new chapter on the cultivation of loving kindness, an especially important subject in today's world. Certification Benefits Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), is a proven method of strategic intervention with both medical and psychiatric clients, based on principles that have been effectively used for thousands of years. Recent clinical research indicates MBSR improves outcomes in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT), and can be integrated into a variety of other treatment approaches. As insurance companies, benefit providers and corporate medicine specialists seek proven techniques of intervention, those who learn and practice MBSR will have the edge. Even the most difficult to treat clients have benefited from MBSR methods. Borderline personality disordered individuals, clients with eating disorders and even self-mutilators and addicts have realized change by using MBSR. Stress reduction methods can help with pre-surgical preparation and promoting wellness among medical patients. Counselors and therapists working with adult and adolescent behavioral and psychological problems will find these tools a valuable resource for making therapy more effective. MBSR is the leading therapeutic approach in an era of managed care seeking outcome based treatment with proven efficacy. Those who complete this course will posses the foundational and advanced skills required to effectively implement evidenced based therapies in today's competitive environment.

ICBCH Hypnosis Training FAQ
YES! You also already possess the skills needed to practice meditation if you can follow directions, focus and concentrate. Learning to teach these skills to others is probably easier than teaching a child to ride a bicycle.
Therefore, it is entirely possible to complete a 30-hour homestudy program on the technical aspects of mindfulness meditation and stress management approaches, and then begin using the methods with your clients.
Mindfulness meditation, like any other modality or method of helping people, is an ongoing educational process. This program is a starting point, one that will prepare you to embark on a new journey in healing, and a journey that will likely include many experiential and educational opportunities in the future.
Even though this class is a starting point, you will achieve the ability to actually teach and implement meditation practices for helping clients live life to the fullest potential possible.
This intensive, accelerated class is based on the principles of effective learning and provides a great deal of knowledge in a short period of time.
Does one need a special license or certification to do medical meditation?
In most states the answer is no. If you are a state or nationally licensed or certified mental health professional, you are already licensed to use modalities of treatment for health and wellness, and mindfulness meditation is a well researched evidence-based method of helping.
It is true that in most states individuals without licensure can practice mindfulness meditation with clients, however our courses are primarily designed for those with a counseling, social work, medical or other professional helping industry background.
Do you certify those who are not mental health professionals?
The International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnotherapy is a professional association that recognizes hypnosis and meditation certification programs. It was created to set standards of excellence, and to promote clinical hypnotherapy and related fields of social science. Its broadest goals are to insure quality training opportunities and help enhance the standing of clinical hypnotherapy. Its narrower focus is to assist individuals and organizations in being recognized for achieving a level of quality within the field of hypnotherapy. The ICBCH certified professional is governed by a professional Code of Ethics.
