There are several steps in the pretalk:
Welcome
1.) eye contact, handshake, condifence
2.) Direct to seat
3.) Give Water
4.) Make them feel at home….
Find out experience with hypnosis
No- Love to work with new people YES- Love to work with people who know how to use hypnosis
1.) Stage or Clinical
2.) Friend or relative
3.) meditation or self-hypnosis
4.) Other hypnotherapist
5.) None
How they heard about you
1.) Other client
2.) Ads and marketing
3.) Trusted referral source
What is their goal? (Part of assessment)
1.) Do they want to change
2.) To they feel urgency to change?
3.) Are they willing to do the work?
Previous attempts at change?
1.) What do they not want to repete
2.) What worked for them
Positive reinforcement
1.) ASsure them they made the right choice
2.) Assure them they will do well! Stats can even come in handy
FOUR THINGS:
1.) They will feel better when done (that is a suggestion)
2.) Hypnosis can assist them
3.) They will always remain fully in control – to follow my suggestions or to remain in the problem – Kinda like AA – you can always have your misery back
4.) They will not be asked to reveal personal information or do anything humiliating – this is not stage hypnosis
Explain hypnosis – often with a convincer
1.) The goal is to normalize hypnosis
2.) Use a convincer
